This was our third time in Berlin. We stayed 3 nights in Zarenhof hotel. We were supposed to stay 4 nights, but we had to leave a day earlier. The hotel didn’t charge the night we left earlier, so a big thank you to the hotel. The hotel is located in Prenzlauer Berg right beside the metro/U-bahn. (U2) The area is safe and really cosy. Your are within walking distance of Mauer Park. Speaking of Mauer Park. Try to go there on a sunday, you won’t regret it. Check in and checkout was quick. We stayed two adults and two children in room 308. A spacious room with a little kitchen and a refrigerator. The room was clean and we had a balcony which was very nice in the mornings and evenings. The breakfast was nice with a fine selection of cold and warm food and drinks. But the the breakfast staff. Wow I didn’t see one smile from either of them. No friendly welcome or anything. They really ought to lighten up a little. Wi-Fi is free and the connection is good. You have access to a parking garage nearby for approximately 15 euros/night. We enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to stay at Zarenhof Hotel another time.

This is very much a 'curate's egg' sort of 'hotel'. The quotes are because I thought, from the website, that this was a full-service hotel. It's actually an apart-hotel, basically a BnB with nothing else. No catering, no coffee-making in the room, no services, no bar. It's located right by the Eberswald Str stop in the U2 line, so if that's good for you, then this is a good place to be. A double bed is *not* two singles pushed together. The idea of a shower door/enclosure is that it keeps the water in ; the provided floor towel is necessary. The shower mixer is just that, without thermostatic control; this means that the water temperature may surprise you, one way or another, if someone else showers or flushes. It may not be a surprise, as the shower head fixture may have relaxed again to point elsewhere. No, I didn't have the necessary wrench and screwdriver needed to fix it. We arrived during a heatwave, so the lack of aircon was initially a downer. However, being on the 5th floor, in the roofspace, wasn't too bad as the windows could be opened and the height meant that the breeze did the job. The breakfasts are good enough, the machine-produced 'Caffè Crema' is a workable black coffee(yes, I know the name suggests otherwise). Don't worry about the appearance of a building site at the entrance put you off, there's a lot of it about. Wear a mask on public transport, remember that cyclists have right-of-way over (or through) pedestrians, and *really* don't jaywalk. No, I won't be back to this hotel again. Yes, I will visit Berlin again, as it's a city with a great vibe.

Great location for a stay in Berlin. Easy to get anywhere with the wide choice of transport links on the doorstep.Staff were friendly and eager to help with enquiries. Rooms are accessed through a courtyard in a separate building. Room was spacious and very clean. The furnishings are dated and old fashioned but everything was well maintained . Our room had a balcony which would have been an advantage in warmer weather. Beds were comfortable and the small kitchen area was handy for making coffee and storing drinks. Great value and was ideal for our stay. If you are looking for a hotel with lots of facilities and modern styling this may not be for you.

A hotel built on a courtyard principle set back from a busy street and subway station in an up-and-coming area. Entrance lobby is a small shop front on main road. After check-in, guests go 'round the back' via three doors and two courtyards to reach the lift to the rooms. Breakfast is substantial and generous; the few staff seen were super polite and the sole receptionist both charming and helpful. Rooms are basic but comfortable and many seem to come with cooking facilities, microwave, coffee maker and fridge. Some signs of age to some fittings and the lighting could be improved but excellent value for the price.

Fantastic location next to a U-Bahn stop - even though the address is a busy road, the hotel itself is located in a back courtyard and is amazingly quiet with no street noise at all. The larger rooms have a kitchenette and a balcony overlooking the courtyard. Friendly and helpful staff. The only things that weren't perfect was the shower, it's very shallow and only has a curtain, so it takes some skill to avoid flooding the bathroom floor. The bathroom fan was very noisy and went on for ages. There was no Do not disturb sign, so Housekeeping came in when I wasn't ready. I didn't have breakfast because there are enough cafes and bakeries in the area, bt it looked very nice and you can eat at tables in the courtyard if the weather is good.
